Barbara Walters is known for asking the tough questions to people at the toughest of times. So when looking back at her long career she admits to a mistake in questioning during one particular interview. It was in 2000 with then hugely popular Ricky Martin was drilled by the long time newswoman during the peak of his career about his sexuality and if he was gay that killed his career here in the U.S.
As Walters told the Toronto Star,
"In 2000, I pushed Ricky Martin very hard to admit if he was gay or not, and the way he refused to do it made everyone decide that he was," Walters said. "A lot of people say that destroyed his career, and when I think back on it now I feel it was an inappropriate question."
The singer's career went downhill from that point here in the U.S., but he is still popular in Latin America. He fathered two kids from a surrogate mother.
