Fame is fleeting. Just ask Kate Gosselin who just found out her enormously staged show Kate Plus 8 on TLC just got cancelled. Remember when she graced the cover of People Magazine? Remember all those Redbook covers with her kids? Seems like such a distant memory now. I can't imagine the Today Show will have much more interest in a miserable woman from central Pennsylvania who no longer violates Child Labor Laws.
So now what is Kate left to do? She has these books she claims to have written, despite the objections of a former friend who apparently was the ghost writer. At one point she had dreams of a makeup line for moms "on the go" looking for a quick fix for all their eyelash and lip liner needs. (Because everyone knows just how difficult it is to remove the cap of a lip gloss and apply it.)
I am assuming this means she might have to actually take care of her kids, which she can’t be too happy about. Because I think we can all agree that she seemed more interested in fame than being a great parent. Let’s just say she probably spends many restless nights wondering what makes Kate Middleton so special.
Kate tweeted after the network's announcement and seemed to remain upbeat. Now since I have a master's in celebrity linguistic studies, I thought I would do you the favor of translating.
Mother-of-eight, Gosselin started off with a statement. Here it is in full:
“We’ve had a great run! Six years of whirlwind fun-filled adventures thanks to TLC and our many many supportive & diehard fans! Translation: Six years of scripted adventures manufactured by network employees and footed by TLC. How am I supposed to take them to the zoo now?
While it is very sad for me and the kids (there were many tears at the breakfast table this morning!), we are looking forward with great anticipation to our bright future! Translation: While the kids are thrilled to have some privacy and maintain some sort of normal childhood without the constant glare of cameras, production assistants, and their mother’s team of stylists and makeup artists, I am terrified at the thought of actually having to spend time with my kids. The tears were probably because I will be home more often.
As is very typical for me, I am choosing to see the positive in this situation and I am excited to consider the many more invigorating opportunities that may come my way! Translation: I am really hoping that stone washed jeans and bedazzled Keds line I have been working on becomes a major success.
I poured my entire self in2 last 6 yrs of ‘Kate+8’ & I can’t wait2have the chance2challenge myself again w future endeavors! In the meanX, I hope 2have more time4motivational speaking, book writing &other fun work opportunities that come my way. Translation: Michael Lohan and I might join forces on a Parenthood Bus Tour.
… And maybe even some dating??!! Translation: Just kidding. I am still dating my “bodyguard”.
