Ellen DeGeneres Launches Her Own Record Label, Signs First Artist

Forget waiting for Simon Cowell to make a freakin' decision on American Idol, Ellen DeGeneres made it on her own. That decision in signing a musician to a record label. Did we mention it's her own?

Ellen who has launched her own label called eleveneleven signed her first artist. He is 12 year-old YouTube star Greyson Michael. His performance of Lady Gaga's Paparazzi earned the young star a spot on Ellen's show and a deal with her newly formed label.

Ellen Had A Big First Night On "Idol"

Ellen DeGeneres, after much hype, finally made her debut on American Idol on Tuesday night. So how did the comedienne fair her first time out? Pretty dam good if you base success on ratings. The season's first episode drew in almost 28 million viewers.

According to Access Hollywood Ellen told the crowd of hopefuls at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles,

“I don’t know how you feel right now, but I’ll tell you one thing, that when people say, ‘What do you know about music?’ I’ll tell you what I do know. I do know what it’s like to stand on stage and try to please an entire room full of people,” she said as the “Idol” contenders cheered. “That is a hard thing to do.”
